Important Changes To The Motor Insurance Database
At One Broker, we are committed to delivering exceptional service to our valued clients, which is why we want to keep you informed about upcoming change that will affect our motor insurance customers.
The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) is transitioning its services from the current provider to a new cloud-based platform called Navigate. The first service to be updated is the Motor Insurance Database (MID), Motor Insurers' Bureau will transfer all customer data to the new platform from 29th April. This change may impact you if you access the Motor Insurance Database to update your vehicle information. In the week starting 22nd April, the Motor Insurers' Bureau will contact all policyholders who access the Motor Insurance Database with a link to set up their account on the new platform. This link will be sent only to registered Motor Insurance Database contacts at noreply@identity.mib.org.uk, so please keep an eye out for this email.
Please ensure that your MID contact information is up to date and accessible as soon as possible to avoid any issues during the move. Any Motor Insurance Database user accounts that are inactive or locked will not receive this communication from the Motor Insurers' Bureau.
The migration will take place between 26th and 28th April. As a result, you will not be able to update records during this time. Please note that the platform will have a new look and feel, but it will be intuitive for existing users. There will not be a significant change to the user experience. The Motor Insurers' Bureau is producing training videos and user guides, which you can access here - navigate_policyholder_quick_start_guide.pdf (mcusercontent.com)
The Motor Insurers' Bureau will send an email to all those currently registered to policyholders who update vehicles and brokers who are registered to submit vehicles on behalf of their policyholders before the new system goes live. The email will contain instructions on how to access Navigate. Please follow these instructions to register. The new system requires users to set up a new password with two-factor authentication (2FA) to access Navigate.
The current MID portal will be unavailable after 18.00 on Friday, 26th April, while the new Navigate portal will be launched at 08.00 on Monday, 29th April. This does mean that policyholders and brokers will not be able to update vehicles over that weekend, however the volume of vehicle updates typically remains low during weekends.
We understand that this change may pose some difficulties, but we would like to reassure you that we’re here to assist you every step of the way. If you have any questions or concerns about this update, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Our team of professional insurance brokers are available to answer any queries you may have and offer support throughout this transition.
