What is Rent Guarantee Insurance?

Rent Guarantee Insurance is a policy that sits alongside Landlord Insurance and Legal Expenses Insurance. It is designed to cover your financial losses if your tenants fail to pay the rent, protecting your income. 

How does Rent Guarantee Insurance work?

You make a claim on your Rent Protection Insurance when your tenants are in arrears on their rental payments. The policy is designed to pay lost income. 

Do I need Rent Guarantee Insurance?

While it’s not a legal requirement, Rent Protection Insurance does give landlords the peace of mind that they could meet their financial obligations in the event of non-payment of rent. If you rely on the income to cover a mortgage – or it’s your pension – then it is important that you protect it with Rent Guarantee and Legal Expenses.

How much is Rent Guarantee Insurance?

It starts from £125 per policy.* However, it’s important to note that the cost is dependent on a number of factors, including the policy excess and level of rent.

Do I have to pay an excess on my Rent Protection Insurance?

It depends on the cover you choose. We have three levels available: 2-month excess; 1-month excess; and no excess. Get a quote.

Can I get Rent Guarantee Insurance for multiple properties?

You can, but a different policy will apply to each property.

Are there any terms and conditions I should know about?

For a Rent Protection Insurance policy to be valid, you must have a current short-hold assured tenancy agreement in place. You must also have seen proof of ID and residency, as well as undertaken credit checks, references and ensured that affordability criteria is met before your tenants moved in. Is Rent Guarantee Insurance for tenants?

No. It is designed to protect the landlord. As such, it is not suitable for tenants.
