Our 2022 charity round-up!

2022 was a busy year for us all, but our amazing colleagues still found time to take part in fundraising activities for One Broker’s chosen charities.

As a result, The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC), St Martins Housing Trust, the Papworth Trust and children’s charity Break all benefited from some much-needed funds.

Let’s take a little look back on some of the fantastic fundraising initiatives held over the last year.

One giant leap for TASC

In spring, One Broker Ambulance’s Rachael Rodden fulfilled a long-held ambition – and raised £785 for TASC to boot.

On the auspicious date of Friday 13th, Rachael took part in a sponsored skydive. As a result of this brave endeavour, she smashed her fundraising goal of £500, a huge achievement. This money went towards TASC’s support services for ambulance crew and their families, which include mental health support.

On their bikes

When summer rolled round, some of our colleagues from One Broker and sister company One Guarantee saddled up for an epic ride.

Starting at our Cambridge office, the team used their pedal power to cycle 70 miles to our base in Norwich.

The ride went without a hitch and the team raised a fantastic £1,496, which One Broker Group doubled to £3,000. This money was then divided equally between TASC, St Martins Housing Trust and the Papworth Trust. Our donation to the latter brings our overall fundraising total to £12,000, which has been gathered over recent years.

Calories lost and gained

As autumn set in, Alistair Danesh of our sister company, One Guarantee, prepared for one of his biggest challenges yet.

On the 2nd October he successfully ran 26.2 miles to complete the London Marathon. In the process, he also raised an amazing £1,496 for the children’s charity Break. The money has helped them to fund their services, which include fostering, residential short breaks and mentorship.

At the very end of the month, our best bakers put together a ghoulish range of tasty treats for our Halloween Bake Sale. Highlights included Rachael Rodden’s Mummy Brownies, Anthea Matthews’ Halloween themed carrot cake and Samantha Read’s chocolate cake. When the money raised was combined with donations from the staff tuck shop, the event raised a tasty total of £140.65 for TASC.

Jumpers for a good Claus

In December, we all donned our very best (or worst) festive jumpers for Christmas Jumper Day. For every photo of one of our team in their festive finery, we donated £5 towards Save The Children UK.

By the end of the day, we had raised a grand total of £150!

2023 and beyond

Thanks to all of these great efforts, over the course of 2022 we fundraised more than £4,000 for our favourite causes. Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to those who donated money!

Next year, we will take our charitable work up a notch by giving all of our colleagues a free paid day to carry out voluntary work. We’re also already planning more money-raising activities, so keep an eye on our social media updates!
