Paul Gibbs celebrates 30 years in insurance broking with One Broker
We’re delighted to announce that December 2020 marks a very special milestone for Account Director Paul Gibbs. We hope you will join us in raising a glass to his career as he celebrates his 30th anniversary with the business!
Having started work as a commercial underwriter in 1985, he joined Gibbs Denley as an insurance broker at its launch on 1st December 1990.
Says Paul Gibbs: “I can’t believe it’s been 30 years! The time has flown!
“I have been steeped in insurance since the day I was born. My father worked in the industry, so I was brought up with it. I even spent my school holidays working for insurance companies!
“I love insurance. I enjoy getting out on the road and meeting people – finding out about their businesses and what makes them tick – before arranging the right protection. Making a claim can be stressful for a business, so it’s important to ensure that they have the right protection in place.”
He continues: “Over the years, I’ve built a great book of clients. A number of my clients have been with me for more than 20 years. It has been rewarding to support their journeys and watch their growth.”
Paul’s father, Derrick Gibbs, started his own business in the late 1980s, before partnering with Mark Denley in 1990. Gibbs Denley provided insurance and financial services advice to businesses and individuals. Paul joined that business in December before working his way up to partner and director.

In 2017, the two arms of Gibbs Denley separated, with the insurance business joining One Broker in June.
“Having acquired a number of businesses over the years, we had the advantage of knowing what to look for in a merger. We wanted to join a business with the same ethos, aspirations and broking style. One Broker met all of those requirements. It’s been fantastic to see the development of the group over recent years.
“We have a great team and the joining of the two companies has provided some fantastic opportunities for our people. I’m looking forward to supporting the team’s development in the future.”
